PURPOSE & POWER OF PRAYER & FASTING MINISTRY:
What is Fasting?
Fasting is the practice of abstaining from food and other activities you enjoy in order to focus fully on God. It is a spiritual discipline with the purpose of drawing closer to Him. Throughout the Bible, people fasted for many reasons, seeking God’s intervention in their personal lives, communities, and even nations.
The purpose of KFU 7-Day Prayer & Fasting is to help you realign with God holistically. During this fast, we will focus on spiritual realignment, psychological renewal, financial alignment, and physical restoration. As you engage in this time of consecration, the goal is to break free from what no longer serves you, establish new beliefs and habits, and receive fresh vision for your life and finances, empowering you to walk boldly in your financial health journey.
As a believer, fasting is not just a discipline, it is a lifestyle. More importantly, it is also connected to your financial elevation and should be practiced regularly. Fasting strengthens spiritual discipline, while also building discipline in other areas of your life. It deepens intimacy with God and positions you for breakthrough.
In biblical times, fasting was a regular part of the lives of God’s people, and it remains just as vital today.
“But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.” — Matthew 6:17–18 (KJV)
What is the Purpose of Fasting?
Fasting humbles you before God. It is one of the most powerful ways to crucify the flesh and allow God to purify your heart. Scripture calls us to humble ourselves before the Lord, and one of the greatest ways to do this is through fasting and prayer.
“But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.” — Psalm 35:13 (KJV)
Fasting also releases the power of God in your life, bringing healing, deliverance, breakthrough, clarity, restoration and much more. Some breakthroughs simply cannot come without fasting and prayer.
“Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” — Matthew 17:21 (KJV)
Another important purpose of fasting is to discern the will of God and receive His direction for your life.
“Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.” — Ezra 8:21 (KJV)
When you humble yourself and earnestly seek God through fasting and prayer, He will answer, reveal His will, and grant you divine guidance.
Lastly, fasting and prayer are vital because fasting draws you closer to God and creates capacity in your life for Him to move. It allows you to walk in God’s power and operate in the supernatural. When you fast, you die to your flesh and allow your spirit to come alive. As your spirit is awakened, the Holy Spirit moves upon you and empowers you to fulfill the work of God.
